the new winter

Guess what: it’s officially winter season! Everywhere you turn, what do you see? We don’t know about you but we can hardly see anything besides all of the RED and GREEN overload! 🤢

Tradition, like anything else, is not above receiving a makeover. We have the freedom to re-imagine how things have been done and make changes in alignment with our current timeline. Color palettes are one of those things. Let’s take a look at some fresh ideas created by your favorite interior designers of le terra curators.

When conceptualizing color palettes, one of the things we like to do is to consider how we want to feel when bringing colors together. One of the reasons we personally don’t enjoy utilizing a traditional palette is because it’s so cliche! It was told to all of us that red and green represent this time of year. That is a very limiting concept to creatives. Choosing fun color combinations allows us to express ourselves freely during this cold season. If the right curation of colors enables us to appreciate the positive aspects of winter like views of virgin snow, hot cocoa and Caribbean rum cake— so be it!

Choose Something Different

palette 1 [top left]: magenta, teal + light grey

palette 2 [bottom left]: electric blue, black + icy blue

palette 3 [middle right]: hot pink, purple + lime green

palette 4 [bottom right]: navy, burgundy + green

Palette 1

Going for fun + nostalgic? Try palette 1. Magenta + teal are a perfect twist on the traditional red + green. They add a lovely childlike element to the season, bringing back memories of crayon colors like Robin’s Egg Blue. Be sure to add lots of sparkle to this combination, even copper! The warmth is a welcomed twist.

Palette 2

Going for classic + invigorating? Try palette 2. The electric blue is amplified by the icy blue then grounded with black. You may pair this combo with lots of silver for added holiday cheer. It reflects the brightness of virgin snow, wind twirling vivid snowflakes in the air and the midnight sky.

Palette 3

Missing summer? Try palette 3. Lime green balances the depth of hot pink + purple perfectly. Silver is the right metallic to make this combination pop. You can add black + charcoal as accents to enhance the main colors. This palette is unexpected yet energetic, exactly what you need to break a tradition if that is your intention. Go for what brings YOU joy!

Palette 4

Going for grown + sexy? Try palette 4. This combination is subdued, mature and intriguing. It’s the shadow of the traditional holiday palette. Grab a glass, pour some bourbon on the rocks and take a sip by the fireplace. You are in for a relaxing season filled with rich flavors and lots of reflection.

These are just a few ideas. You are welcome to experiment and create your own.The point is that you can do whatever you want to do, including nothing at all. It’s your season regardless of the season. Treat it as such and enjoy!

Thank you for tuning in. We will be in touch with updates within the next few weeks.
